Just in time to cancel your plans, Eskom has confirmed on Twitter that there’s a “high risk” of stage 1 loadshedding tonight from 17:00 until 23:00, so save your game, shut down and unplug your things, and decide who gets to eat who first.
“Based on the Winter Plan, Eskom has successfully managed to go 5 days without loadshedding where Stage 1 loadshedding would have been implemented,” the notice adds. Because that makes everything okay.
The reason (this time) for the power interruption is apparently due to “a loss of generating units”, so the prognosis for the weekend is probably bad too.
