Don’t you ever say Twitter can’t make the world a better place. Thanks to @CanYouPetTheDog, and a loud bunch of game fans, you can now pet the Dog in Enter the Gungeon.
Enter the Gungeon is a roguelike, bullet storm of a game, that, like many games, contains a Dog. Up until recently, said Dog, the companion of the Hunter, never knew he was a good boy. It was pretty tragic and this had not escaped the scrutiny of a Twitter account that’s sole purpose is reporting on the petability of dogs in games.
When game designer, Dave Crooks, was made aware of this grave omission, via tweets, retweets, and subreddit posts, the Dodge Roll team resolved to make it right. According to Kotaku, it was a last-minute addition to their latest update, A Farewell to Arms. You know, the kind of thing developers live for.
Initially we just laughed about it, but the next day, one of the programmers, David Rubel, threw out the idea: ‘We’re already doing this update anyway… I bet I can make it work if we get the animations’.
And they did.
