Doctors find live bees in a patient’s eye, feeding on her tears

In today’s edition of Okay, That’s Probably Enough Internet For Now, doctors at the Fooyin University Hospital in Taiwan treating a woman for an eye infection discovered a mini-colony of four bees embedded in her tear ducts, suckling briny nectar from the ersatz teats in service of their dread queen.

According to The Telegraph, the 29-year old had been pulling weeds from a relative’s grave, and gotten what she thought was some dirt in her eye. When the swelling didn’t subside, she visited a doctor and was first diagnosed with inflammation of the cornea. But a medical examination quickly revised that diagnosis to what-the-actual-fuck.

“I saw something that looked like insect legs,” the hospital’s ophthalmalogist Dr. Hung Chi-ting told reporters at a subsequent press conference. “So I pulled them out under a microscope slowly, and one at a time without damaging their bodies.”

And yes. There’s a video.

WebMD should update its database. It’s not cancer, you guys, it’s bees.
