Far Cry 5 posts some seriously impressive week one sales figures

In spite of various controversies over the theme, and a lone writer voted Best Content Creator 2018 by his mom stating he’d never buy a Ubisoft title again, Far Cry 5 sales numbers are in – and they’re a far cry from bad (huehue).

Just this week Ubisoft reported the first week sales numbers for Far Cry 5, and it’s an impressive $310 million. This is before the various retailers take their cut, but it does make this Ubi’s second-biggest launch in history – trailing only The Division, which racked up $330 million in its first week.

To put things in sharp perspective, however, this launch more than doubled that of Far Cry 4. Clearly the decision to cash in on Trumpmania with the racist cult thing paid off for Ubisoft, who are no doubt already combing social media for inspiration for the setting for Far Cry 6.

Things were similar in Europe, having a bigger UK launch than Assassin’s Creed Origins or Ghost Recon Wildlands – and the biggest of 2018 thus far.
