Ghosts, Funeral Jobs, And The Grim Reaper: The Sims 4 Gets Seriously Supernatural

The Sims 4’s current season of “To Be Continued” is, well, continuing, with a dramatic new twist in the Life and Death expansion pack. And no, it’s not just about your Sims’ daily grind toward their pixelated demise; it’s also about what happens after they kick the bucket.

Funerals? Check. Grim Reaper gig economy jobs? You bet. Post-life options? Oh, yes. We’re talking bucket lists, ghosts with unfinished business, and a lot of supernatural shenanigans.

The Sims is still keeping much of the secrets of Life and Death close to its chest (as usual), but we’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect. The new world, Ravenwood, is home to three hauntingly beautiful neighbourhoods.

Your Sims can also now create a bucket list because nothing says YOLO like preparing for the afterlife. Complete enough goals before you croak, and your Sim might be reborn. Or, if you prefer the ghost life, just stick around as an ethereal being with a knack for mischief.

In true Sims fashion, death is just another opportunity for a social event. Sims can now host grieving rituals, fully customizable, of course. And if you’re one of the lucky living, why not cash in on the afterlife?

You can take on jobs as the Grim Reaper’s assistant or even run your own funeral parlour. Imagine the Simoleons you’ll rake in a while helping your neighbours cross over to the other side – talk about a side hustle with grave implications.

But it’s not just about the living. Ghost Sims are also levelling up. Ghosts are basically becoming their own occult class. They’ll be able to help out with household chores or, if you’re feeling a bit more chaotic, terrorize the living by levitating Sims and shaking them down for Simoleons, literally.

Of course, Sims fans are a bit nervous about one thing – funeral events. The Sims 4 veterans still have PTSD from the My Wedding Stories fiasco, so it’s understandable to be cautious about how smooth the journey to the great beyond will be.

Maxis is likely to drop a livestream later this month showing off more of the expansion’s features, so keep an eye out. Life and Death is set to launch on the 31st of October because nothing screams Halloween like planning your own digital funeral.
