If a live-action adaption and a multiplayer fighting game of Avatar: The Last Airbender weren’t enough for you, Paramount Studios has just announced that they will be teaming up with Saber Interactive to produce “the biggest game in the franchise’s history.”
The game will be set thousands of years before the animated series, putting players in the shoes of a never-before-seen Avatar. Both Saber Interactive and Paramount Studios say that players “can expect to be immersed in a vibrant world, master all four elements, engage in dynamic combat alongside companions, and experience the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance in the world.”
However, since the partnership has only just been announced, much more information on the game than this is hard to find.
Saber Interactive has produced some pretty successful games in the past, like the realistic first-person shooter Insurgency Sandstorm and World War Z: Aftermath, as well as the more recent and Warhammeringly epic Space Marine 2.
It has been said that Saber Interactive will be working closely with Avatar Studios, a division of Nickelodeon created by original show creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, so we can expect some pretty close-to-lore experiences.
All that remains now is the immense pressure on Saber Interactive to ensure they don’t pull a 2010 Last Airbender live-action movie on us.
