Solo Players Can Now Face The Hardest Boss In World Of Warcraft… Solo

Blizzard has finally answered the prayers of every World of Warcraft player who’s ever thought to themselves: Do I really need 190 other people to prove I’m a hero?

Starting today, Nerub-ar Palace, the first raid of The War Within, just got a lot more accessible for those of us who prefer to heroically save the world without coordinating bathroom breaks and debating loot rolls.

Thanks to the brand-new Story Mode difficulty, Players can now storm the final boss solo (or bring along some friends). In this new mode, you can waltz in, take on the last boss at a much more reasonable difficulty, and finally see how the story ends without needing a raid team that makes herding cats seem like a breeze.

However, while Story Mode has many pros, it also has a con: this mode won’t hand out the usual raid loot. Instead, it will reward players with a final quest turn-in and some sweet rewards to remind them that even in Story Mode, they’re still a big deal.

To get into Story Mode, there’s a bit of a quest grind. Players must wrap up the entire War Within campaign, including those late-game quests that unlock when they hit the level 80 cap.

The quest that officially sends you into the raid comes from an NPC chilling in Dornogal, the new capital city, and, surprise; it’s not a straight shot to the boss. You’ve got a few steps to tackle first.

But once you defeat the big bad, your reward is a nice pile of currency for upgrading your gear, which is a pretty sweet deal considering you can take on this challenge entirely solo.

Will you be trying to prove your mettle solo? Let me know in the comments.
