Netflix Teases Their Latest Gundam Animated Series During Geek Week

Gundam fans have something pretty exciting to look forward to in October, as Netflix just released the first teaser trailer for their new animated series, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.

The four-and-a-half-minute trailer gives us a sneak peek into what we can expect from the show. It opens up with a Zeon battalion marching towards an Earth Federation-occupied base in Romania. It’s eleven months into the One Year War, and the base seems undefended. However, things go awry when the Earth Federation reveals itself and starts wiping out the Zeon forces.

The Major then calls in for the Mobile Suit Red Wolves to come in and save the day.

The trailer ends on a bit of a cliffhanger as we see the robotic war suits drop from the plane, not knowing if they were able to save their ground forces or not, but it does get us all excited to watch the show when it releases on the 17th of October.

The animated series will be the first to utilise Unreal Engine 5, which is renowned for its almost lifelike creations, and in some instances during the trailer, you can see just how beautiful the animation is. A lot of the time, it does feel like we’re watching a cutscene from a Warhammer game, but one that I’m willing to binge watch all weekend long.

The production team also has some heavy hitters behind it, with Gavin Hignight writing the show. He previously wrote the stories for Tekken: Bloodline, Transformers: Cyberse, and the critically acclaimed game Marvel’s Spider-Man. The lead artist, Erasmus Brosdau, previously worked on games like Star Citizen and the Crysis series, which are well-known for their realism and graphic card-breaking capabilities.
