Yesterday, Nintendo hosted their first ever back-to-back Indie World and Partner Direct Showcase, delivering an epic 47 announcements for Nintendo fans to delve into.
Unfortunately, none of the announcements had anything to do with the Nintendo Switch 2, but we already knew that.
As we sat on the edge of our seats, watching what new games and DLCs would be hitting the Switch in the upcoming months, we were both intrigued and astonished at what games would be hitting the console. Some of them even had us pondering whether we were living in the ordinary world.
So sit back and read on as we reveal everything announced during the showcase and our top five announcements of the night.
Star Overdrive: Timed Exclusive Releasing in 2025
Tony Hawks meets Zelda in this open world, futuristic boarding combat game from Dear Villagers. Customise your board, gather resources to improve its speed, gravity and steering and battle enemies with different skills as you attempt to save your beloved.
Sid Meiers: Civilisation VII: 11 February 2025
The latest in the Sid Meiers Civilisation series comes out on Nintendo Switch, granting gamers another epic 4X grand strategy. Expand your civilisation through the decades, grow your relationships with other civilizations and stamp your claim on the world. Featuring all new leaders, like Queen Himiko, who uses the power of friendship to crush her enemies.
Morsels: February 2025
Transform into weird little monsters as you attempt to fend off the evil wickedness of cats in this whimsical, grungy trip of a game, Morsels. Originally a top-down shooter, the game has now morphed into a strange little roguelike that is hoping to charm players with its chaotic cuteness.
Yakuza Kiwami: 24 October 2024
Since spending a good few days of my gaming time in Hawaii with Ichiban and friends, I’ve grown a solid connection to the Yakuza series of games, so hearing that the first ever (remade for Switch) Yakuza game was coming to the beloved Switch console, you could bet money that I’d be on board. Go back in time and play the story that started the whole franchise as Kazuma Kiryu, the famed and framed Dragon of the Yakuza franchise.
Neva: 15 October 2024
From the creators of Gris comes this touching story of how those who protect us, in time, need us to protect them. Playing as Alba, the mother figure of an abandoned wolf cub, Neva, this game will take players on a journey of growth, love and despair.
