Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Won’t Have Players Running To YouTube For Help

As the impending release of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle rockets towards us like a giant bolder, we’re learning more and more about the game, which paints a pretty promising picture (don’t burst our bubble, okay?).

The latest thing we’ve learned about MachineGames’ take on the popular franchise is that the game will focus heavily on puzzles and, of course, puzzle solving – much as you’d expect from a game featuring Dr Indiana himself.

However, thanks to some interviews from Gamescom, we now know that these puzzles have been designed to challenge players but not to the point of having them break immersion by heading to YouTube or Google for the answers.

According to MachineGames, the idea is to offer players a wide variety of challenging puzzles that aren’t dumbed down to feel like cinematic set pieces but also never seem like a roadblock that players can’t get past.

To this end, The Great Circle will have optional in-game hints accessible through the camera to keep players in the game and not heading out of it to find the solution, and in the course of doing that, break all the immersion.

So players will have the option of snapping a photo of the puzzle they’re stuck on and then getting some expert help from none other than Dr Indiana Jones.

I like this idea, and I love the idea that players will be able to opt into it rather than having hints thrown their way when they are just trying to figure it out for themselves. But now I want to know your thoughts—let me know in the comments!
