If there is one thing that you can say about Sega, it’s that their games are quite literally immortal. Few companies that were around when our parents and maybe even grandparents discovered games still have the same staying power as Sega does, and a huge part of that power comes from everyone’s favourite little blue hedgehog—Sonic.
Talking about Sonic, we’ll receive an updated version of 2011’s 3D platformer Sonic Generations later this year called Sonic x Shadow Generations. However, before the updated version arrives, the original will be delisted, which has caused serious waves among die-hard fans.
Sega didn’t become the immortal being it is by not listening to its community; however, in response to the feedback, they announced that Sonic Generations OG will remain available as part of a bundle with other older Sonic games.
The statement released by Sega reads:
On September 9, the original version of Sonic Generations will no longer be sold on Steam as a standalone title. However, we’ve heard player’s feedback, and we’re offering a way to play the game in its original form.
The original version of Sonic Generations will still be available as part of the new Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy Bundle, including other classic Sonic titles on Steam.
The Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy Bundle will include Sonic Generations Collection, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2, Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic Spinball.
