Three Games To Play While Waiting For Star Wars Outlaws And The NAG Winter Edition

If you’ve seen the covers for the upcoming Winter Edition of NAG Magazine, you’re undoubtedly aware that Star Wars Outlaws is very much on our minds. And like any addict, we’re just looking for ways to tide us over before he can get that glorious Outlaws hit.

Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023, Star Wars Outlaws promises to be an open-world RPG following an entirely new character in the Star Wars universe: a scoundrel known as Kay Vess.

Alongside Kay and her companion, Nix, players will be taking on one of the biggest heists in the Outer Rim Territories, and if that has you as excited about the game as we are – we’ve got your back.

There couldn’t be a better time to brush up on the lore and characters already established in the Star Wars universe, which means it’s game time! In the name of preparation… right?… right!

So, without further ado, here are three Star Wars games to play while you count down the days until the release of the NAG Winter Edition and Star Wars Outlaws—you can thank us later.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

While there is no shortage of digital Lego games in this world and no shortage of Star Wars-themed Lego games, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga still stands in a league of its own.

The game takes players through all the core events from the original trilogy, making it a great way to refresh your memory or even enter the franchise for the very first time. On top of that, it’s filled to the proverbial brim with fun references from across the Star Wars universe.

And while aesthetically and mechanically, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga couldn’t be further from Star Wars Outlaws if it tried, I couldn’t imagine a more fun way to get ready for the upcoming thrill ride.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

It doesn’t get much better than Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This single-player nutritive adventure game showcased just how great video game adaptations of the Star Wars universe could be.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and follows a new Jedi Padawan, Cal Kestis, as he unwittingly becomes Darth Vader’s prey and a target of the Galactic Empire.

What really cements this as a spectacular game, though, is how players grow alongside Cal. When the game starts, Cal still needs to complete his Jedi training, yet over the course, Cal becomes a Jedi like no other, and that’s a hard feeling to beat.

Battlefront 2

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is not only the fourth mainline instalment of the Battlefront franchise but also the direct sequel to the 2015 reboot.

Unfortunately, many gamers missed out on really appreciating this game when it was initially released, thanks to a plethora of microtransactions and loot box controversy.

However, despite its rocky start, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 easily remains one of the best ways to familiarize players with the franchise’s lore, its characters, and what to expect from Star Wars-based gameplay.

Three Games To Play While Waiting For Star Wars Outlaws And The NAG Winter Edition

If this short list has you more excited than ever to dive into Star Wars Outlaws – how do you think we feel? After immersing ourselves in all things Outlaws to bring you two of the sexiest looking NAG Magazines ever made (don’t challenge me on this; I know I’m right), all we want to be doing is exploring those galaxies, but alas, that joy is still far, far, away.

However, if you want to make the wait easier on yourself, you can head over to shop.nag.co.za and pick up your copies of the Winter Edition today. And yes, I did say copies because, with covers as sick as the ones we’ve secured, you need them all.

But now I want to know from you – what Star Wars game is your favourite, and which Winter Edition cover is your poison? Let me know in the comments.
