I don’t need to remind anyone about the harsh disappointment of the recent Ubisoft Forward showcase because of the clear lack of even a whisper about Beyond Good and Evil 2. Not only was this disappointing in isolation, but it was even more so when you consider that it’s been years since we heard anything about the forever upcoming title.
However, that all changed last night when Ubisoft threw fans the smallest of bones by letting gamers know that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in the works.
This latest update comes to us thanks to Ubisoft’s Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition website, which went live last night alongside a message that reads:
Learn more about Jade’s childhood and her link to Beyond Good and Evil 2 thanks to a new treasure hunt throughout Hillys! Collect exclusive cosmetic rewards as you progress through the game and explore the planet.
And just before you think that this message is probably just old copy, a press release sent out doubled down on that line as well:
This special edition will feature a hunt in which players can discover more about Jade’s past and collect exclusive cosmetic rewards. This exclusive new mission also reveals more about the narrative link to Beyond Good and Evil 2, showing Ubisoft’s enduring commitment to the franchise.
When will Beyond Good and Evil 2 be released? Well, no one knows. But at least we’ve just gotten not one but two acknowledgements from Ubisoft that it’s still in the works, and that’s good enough for me.
