Valheim is the hit survival game that lets gamers live out their slightly mythical Nordic dreams. Building great halls, tackling magical beasties, and earning your right of passage to Valhalla are just daily in-game activities.
The game on Steam has maintained a relatively steady player count over the past three years, with a few spikes here and there when updates are released, but there’s some exciting news for those who prefer a technology even older than Steam itself.
Yes, I’m talking about a tabletop board game run by elbow grease and your sorry excuse for an imagination. Oh, and the power of Odin, of course.
Mood Publishing will work closely with Iron Gate Studios and Coffee Stain Publishing, the development and publishing team behind the online game, to ensure that the board game feels as close as possible to the digital game. They have stated explicitly that they want it this way to entice fans of the video game to try out the board game and convince boardgames fans to give the video game a try, too.

The game will be playable with 1-4 players, starting out with a small house and very little skill. Your task will then be to “explore, build, collect resources, forge weapons, equip sturdy armour, battle enemies, and carve your path towards facing the ultimate evil.”
The board game is currently in its preview phase on Gamefound, and fans are already flocking to the comments section asking for more information.
