XDefiant has been out for just over a week, allowing players to take on fast-paced PvP action in the Clancy-verse. Amassing around 500,000 concurrent daily players, it certainly has already captured the attention of a few gamers, both positive and negative.
While the game can improve on some things in terms of balance, one of the main features that XDefiant has left out compared to other FPS games is SBMM or Skill-Based Matchmaking.
SBMM, in a nutshell, will attempt to match you with players of a similar skill level to create a balanced match-up.
However, without SBMM, quite a few players complain that they always play against the hardest of enemies.
Online streamer Xclusive Ace made a post on X giving their thoughts on the matter, stating that if you aren’t finding any easy enemies, then there’s room for you to improve your gameplay. Essentially, if you can’t find the noobs, well, then you’re the noob.
To further enforce this sentiment, Mark Rubin, the producer for XDefiant, agreed with Xclusive Ace by reposting the post with the simple word: “This!”

Not all hope is lost, though. What the game devs and Xclusive Ace are saying is that if you play enough of the game and work on your skills, you’ll get better and will be able to physically see it as you start to climb higher and higher up the in-game leaderboard, instead of remaining somewhere near the middle with SBMM.
What are your thoughts on SBMM? Are you more of a noob without it? Let us know in the comments below.
