The latest looter shooter to catch my eye comes from South Korea’s Nexon. The First Descendant is a third-person, Unreal Engine 5, co-op looter shooter that puts players in the shoes of a Descendant, a human with similar abilities to those of the ancestors.
There seems to be a story here laden with twists, either from the Descendants’ stories themselves or from the enemies’ side, about why they haven’t yet annihilated the human race after 100 years of war.
Players will be able to choose from a variety of Descendants, each with their unique abilities and even the power to turn into an ultimate form. Combine this with up to three other Descendants, and you get a visually stunning co-op (or single-player) experience that might scratch the itch that Destiny has given you.
The seven-minute deep dive from the development team might also convince you to pick up the free-to-play RPG when it releases.
If The First Descendant sounds interesting, the final technical test will be held this weekend via Steam. The technical test is open to all players, so once you click the button on the game’s Steam page, you should gain instant access to pre-download the game.
The technical test kicks off at 9 AM on Saturday morning, the 25th of May and will shut down two days later at 8:59 AM on the Monday thereafter.
The test will feature eleven of the playable descendants, two of which will have ultimate forms, new content since the early access tests last year, and a lot of credits and items to give players a taste of the end-game.
Nexon did state that all progress will be reset after the technical test for those who continue to play when it officially launches.
PC requirements are tame, as Nexon recommends an i7 7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X for your CPU, 16GB of RAM and either an Nvidia RTX 2060 or an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT for your GPU. The test will use around 50GB of storage.
While this test is focused on PC gamers, when The First Descendant does launch sometime during our winter season, it will be playable on PC, Xbox and PlayStation devices.
