Arguably, the greatest epic war franchise in gaming has to be Battlefield, even if its latest iteration, Battlefield 2042, took a bit of a beating from the community.
Just recently, EA announced that they were pouring more resources into the next version of the game by shifting Motive Studios, the team behind the Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons, to Battlefield development. This means a total of four studios and the largest team behind the franchise yet, are now working on the game.
However, EA also announced that alongside the plethora of EA Sports titles releasing in the 2025 fiscal year, ending on the 31st of March 2025, there are also two unannounced games coming from the team.
One will be a third-party title coming in Q4 or early next year, and the second will be an EA IP game, which will reportedly be the next Dragon Age title, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
This means that, even with the larger team behind the game, we won’t see the next Battlefield game for at least another year.
However, Andrew Wilson, CEO at EA, says that he has been in discussions with the team and even had the opportunity to play some of what they’re currently working on.
“A few weeks ago, I was visiting with the teams, and I couldn’t be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play,” said Wilson, adding, “I’ve just spent a whole bunch of time with the collective Battlefield team playing what they’re building, and it is going to be another tremendous live service.”
All we can hope for now is that the larger team and more time to make the game will mean a much more successful launch than the last Battlefield.
