Yesterday, we covered the news that Asus was preparing to spill the tea on their new, shiny upgrade to the ROG Ally handheld device. While the announcement wasn’t the ROG Ally 2 many hoped for, it is still pretty cool.
The new device will be known as the ROG Ally X and will be a revised version of the original handheld. According to Jake Kulinski and Whitson Gordon, this won’t be a full redesign or a totally new generation.
Not everything is changing but there are significant improvements across the board. The battery has been improved, and it’s not a small battery improvement. Improvements to storage, RAM, ports and maybe other physical changes to the device itself.
As of now, Asus is keeping some details close to the chest and has announced that those wanting more information will need to wait until the 2nd of June for a Special Announcement event that will take a closer look at the ROG Ally X.
We know the ROG Ally X will be available in black and have a much-improved battery life. Asus has also hinted that it might come with more RAM, a longer M.2 SSD slot, and redesigned joystick modules.
We can also expect to see a new version of Armoury Crate, which will improve navigation tools and controller mapping profiles for the handheld.
But now I want to know if you are happy after last night’s ROG Ally teaser. Let me know in the comments.
