In news I honestly didn’t think I’d be writing again so soon, Magic: The Gathering has once again broken all records thanks to the sale of yet another hyper-valuable card. And no, this time, it has nothing to do with either Post Malone or the One Ring card.
To set the stage, in January of 2021, a single Black Lotus card from the game’s first-ever set of cards was sold in an eBay auction for a whopping $511,100, effectively doubling the previous sale record of Magic: The Gathering cards.
The organiser, trading card investment firm, and exchange PWCC, which regularly handles sales across various CCGs for high-value cards, proved that the sale was legitimate.
Now, a couple of years later, another Alpha Black Lotus has been sold, per the Certified Guaranty Company, for a crazy-to-contemplate 3 million dollars.

A statement from Certified Guaranty Company reads:
An Alpha Black Lotus, graded by CGC Cards, just fetched a jaw-dropping $3 MILLION, making it the highest-priced Magic: The Gathering card ever sold!
Its sky-high price demonstrates the high-value collectors place on CGC Cards’ Pristine 10 grade.
The previous record for Magic: The Gathering cards was set when Post Malone bought the One Ring from the Lord of the Rings crossover set for $2 million.
What are your thoughts on all this? If you had the money, would you buy a 3 million dollar Magic: the Gathering card? Let me know in the comments.
