Okay, so it’s no secret that I don’t love fighting games. However, there is an exception to every rule, and if there is one thing that can make me change my mind and head on into something like Mortal Kombat of my own free will, it’s a collaboration with one of my favourite shows—The Boys.
If you didn’t pick up on it already, NetherRealm’s latest DLC trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, which features none other than The Boys Homelander, has just dropped, and yes, it’s everything I wanted and more.
The trailer in question shows Homelander locked in battle with Liu Kang, showing off just a few of the fatalities that players can look forward to. Now, I’m not going to recap the trailer, which you can watch below, but I will say it is satisfying to see Homelander iconically burn through Liu Kang’s skull with his laser eyes, just as it is seeing Homelander take a sip of non-cow milk from a baby bottle. You’ve got to love it.
The only thing that doesn’t quite hit the mark with this upcoming DLC is that Antony Starr won’t be voicing his love-to-hate-him character; instead, the voice of Homelander in this DLC is rumoured to belong to Chris Cox. Unfortunately, the trailer didn’t include much talking, so it’s hard to say if the new voice is a hit or miss.
While we don’t have a fixed release date for the DLC yet, we do know that Omni Man from Invincible will also be included in the pack. Are you as excited about all this as I am? Let me know in the comments.
