To say that Dota 2’s Pudge is one of the most popular kids on the block is, to put it mildly. In fact, Pudge has just become the first of Dota’s characters to be played in over a billion matches, making it the game’s most popular character by over 300 million matches.
For those who don’t know the character, Pudge was strongly inspired by Diablo 1’s Butcher boss and has been Dota 2’s most popular character since 2016. According to Dotabuff, Pudge has been played in over 1,000,059,649 matches, with a pick rate of 33.03%.
It’s worth noting that despite Pudge being the most popular Dota 2 character, the champion doesn’t hold the best overall win rate. That honour is held by OmniKnight, with a win rate of 56.2%.
