Over the years, countless comics that follow Magic: The Gathering have been released. However, the crown jewel of these tie-ins has been a manga specifically for the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set, but it’s never been available in English—until now.
Thanks to an announcement from Viz Media, the manga publisher, we now know that the first volume of the Magic manga, Destroy All Humans: They Can’t Be Regenerated, will be released in English sometime in October of this year.
Alongside this release, there will also be an exclusive Magic card. For those who don’t know, Destroy All Humans isn’t just your typical Magic: The Gathering adaption. Instead of being set in the world of Magic: The Gathering, the manga takes a closer approach and is focused on our world in the 1990s.
The main characters are teenage students who start to play the original Magic: The Gathering, back when it was still the new kid on the block. Oh, and did I mention that it’s also a romantic comedy? Because it did.
Destroy All Humans: They Can’t Be Regenerated reads more like a slice-of-life story than anything we’ve read from Magic: The Gathering before.
Currently, 15 volumes of the series are available in Japanese, and according to Viz Media, the whole selection will be translated alongside the unique old-school cards.
