In news that feels almost surreal to be writing, Ubisoft’s long-awaited, free-to-play FPS title, XDefiant, finally has a release date, and it’s right around the corner.
For those who don’t already know, Xdefiant is a game that was first announced back in 2021, and the response to it then was not… great.
The response back then mainly focused on the game’s “silly” style. There was so much negativity surrounding it that Ubisoft ended up pulling the breaks on the product for almost a full year before re-releasing the title to the world with a far cooler vibe.
Now, after a series of well-received beta events and stress tests, the game is finally gearing up for a 21 May release date.
The XDefiant launch will kick off with a six-week preseason that will include five factions, 14 maps, and five gameplay modes: Domination, Hot Shot, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control. Alongside this, there will also be a ranked mode, with 4v4 competitive matches in Domination, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control.
From 21 May, XDefiant will be available on PC from the Ubisoft Store. But now I want to know from you, are you excited to try out a new FPS title? Let me know in the comments.
