Everything Announced at Yesterday’s Indie World Showcase

Just as predicted in our post yesterday, there was no site of Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight sequel, Silksong in Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase. Other games and updates we heard fans were hoping for, like Scott Pilgrim or Axiom Verge 2, were also nowhere to be seen.

What we did get in the 20-minute-long Indie Showcase, though, was a blast of 17 game updates and release date announcements that are sure to tickle at least one of your fancies.

Cody’s Three Most Hyped:

From the selection shown, here are the three games I’m most hyped about playing on my Nintendo Switch:

TMNT: Splintered Fate – Releasing July 2024

As someone who grew up watching the show on TV and fighting a brother over which Ninja Turtle we got to be while smashing pizzas in our faces, TMNT: Splintered Fate was an obvious hit for me. While they may be a little late to the rogue-lite trend that recently swept through our gaming libraries, the flashy combat and familiar characters look like a good time spent on the couch with a pizza.

SCHiM – Releasing 18th July 2024

I’ve been following the development of Shcim on social media for quite some time, and while I never really could see the gameplay from all the little tidbits shown off, the idea always intrigued me. A tiny shadow who has lost its host making its way back, utilising other shadows on the way there. The puzzle-like levels look just like the perfect something to keep my mind busy, while the peaceful sites, sounds and colour tones allow for a cosy, winter gaming session.

Animal Well – Releasing 9th May

Maybe it’s the trippy neon, pixelated art style, or perhaps it’s the fact that you play as some sort of blobby frog thing, but Animal Well piqued my curiosity. A puzzling Metroidvania with a bit of surrealism thrown in to boot could be all the wild ride I need for a crazy weekend.

Everything Else Announced:

Of course, there was a lot more than just these three games for us to dive into, so if those weren’t your cup of tea, perhaps one of these are:
