Sony’s Rumoured PS5 Pro Release Looks To Be Gearing Up For A November Release

According to reports first posted on The Verge, an upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro console, codenamed Trinity, is in the works. Leaked specifications for this console include some really big updates in terms of ray tracing and overall performance. I warned you to hide your wallets.

The PlayStation 5 Pro would likely be a mid-generation refresh between the PS5 and its inevitable successor, the PlayStation 6. This mid-generation update will boast a faster CPU, targeting a frequency of 3.85GHz, around 10 per cent higher than the regular PlayStation 5 model.

The report also indicates that Sony has already started pushing developers to utilise more ray tracing features and that games optimised for the Pro could boast a Trinity Enhanced tag.

Alongside these improvements, the PlayStation 5 Pro is also set to offer enhanced system memory, resulting in a 28 per cent increase in bandwidth and an additional 1.2GB available for games, totalling 13.7 GB.

This boost is expected to enable Sony’s new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, which aims to improve frame rates and image quality through upscaling. According to the Verge, Sony’s custom PSSR upscaling solution, akin to Nvidia’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR, will replace traditional game anti-aliasing methods.

As of now, all signs point to a November release for the PlayStation 5 Pro console. Will you be jumping on this console upgrade when it arrives, or are you still happy with the existing PlayStation 5 console? Let me know in the comments.
