Starfield Modding Community Adds DLC-sized Mod

As with most Bethesda RPGs, the game lives on and grows through the glory of the modding community behind it, and there is no difference with Starfield.

A few days ago, a DLC-sized mod was released on Nexus Mods for Starfield. TankGirl444 has called it TGs Galactic Colonies Expanse and has worked on the mod for a month.

The mod expands upon their previous building/player homes mod and significantly so.

TankGirl444 says that the core idea of the mod is to allow players to create a central base of operations where mining, farming, and other material gathering can take place.

This is easier than the current outpost system Starfield uses. They’ve also taken care to incorporate the game’s lore as much as possible so the mod itself doesn’t feel too out of place.

Within your new colony, which can be built on any world, the mod allows players to frack and farm to their heart’s content. Tankgirl444 has added fracking stations that will allow players to mine all minerals up to the uncommon level.

They have also included an entire farming system with fruit, vegetables and even livestock. All of these materials can be sold, used in crafting or eaten, should one feel a little peckish out in the fields.

Massive biodomes have also been added to the game, adding that touch of greenery to any barren planet one space explorer should so choose to live on.

The mod is not all peace and no pillage, though. TankGirl444 has gone a little back in the game’s lore to the Colony Wars and added the function to craft mechs—yes, giant, walking, gun-toting, mechanical war suits.

According to the lore, these weapons of mass destruction were banned after the Colony Wars due to their, well, mass destruction. This mod slightly fudges that ban and allows you to craft these overpowered behemoths again.

If you’re more of a turret defence kind of colonist, worry not, for those, too, have been thrown into the mix of craftable items.

While the Galactic Colonies Expanse mod comes with a lot, TankGirl444 plans to use this as a base mode for more to come. Things like terraforming or even natural biome changes due to your colony’s effect on the system.

NPC cargo ships will visit your planet for items you hold and produce, such as fruits, vegetables, and livestock, and even drop off other NPC crews that may have a quest or two for you.

If you are looking to add a little more to the game while you wait for an official DLC from the Starfield team, perhaps this mod is the mod you’ve been looking for.
