Eternal Strands: The New Game From Ex-Dragon Age Developers

Yellow Brick Games is an independent studio, or indie studio if you’re one of the cool kids, that was founded way back in 2020 with some AAA-class developers. Games like Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age have all been touched by their hands, but they decided they wanted to touch other, more personal things. A game of their own, you dirty-minded squabs!

Almost four years later, the studio finally dropped a trailer for their first game, which is planned for a 2025 release, Eternal Strands.

The game itself has been inspired by titles like Shadow of the Colossus and Monster Hunter, while some of the gameplay physics have cheated off of Zelda’s Tears of the Kingdom exam paper.

What this has created is an epic, open-world game where players will be able to climb the giant roaming monsters of the land to expose and attack weak spots and an environment that can easily be manipulated to help defeat foes, traverse landscapes and discover secrets.

There are obvious displays of fire, ice and telekinetic type magics used in the trailer supplied by IGN, and it is said that this is due to the cape worn by the main protagonist, Brynn. Called The Mantle, this magic, flowing fashion piece will allow us to create devastating wildfires, new frozen pathways or even telekinetic trampolines in-game.

Combine all of this with the story-telling talent from the previous games that this team has worked on, and Eternal Strands is certainly setting itself up to be a great game.

Mike Laidlaw, chief creative officer at Yellow Brick Games, says:

“Our hope with Eternal Strands is to deliver an adventure that brings a sense of fun and excitement to fantasy, while encouraging players to experiment with its systems,”

The game should be released on PC, Xbox and PlayStation in 2025 if all goes according to plan.
