CD Projekt Red Says NO To Microtransactions Following Dragon’s Dogma 2 Drama

During a recent interview, Piotr Nielubowicz, from CD Projekt Red, was asked whether future games will have microtransactions added into them, to which he responded that as a company, they don’t see a place for microtransactions in the case of singleplayer games.

This is refreshing news as the conversation around microtransactions is again heating, thanks to the controversy surrounding Dragon’s Dogma 2’s lengthy list of DLC items released alongside the main game.

It is worth noting that in the case of Dragon’s Dogma 2, almost all of the microtransactions or DLCS can be acquired in the game by just playing instead of spending money. However, gamers were upset nonetheless.

It’s also worth noting that CD Projekt Red didn’t rule out using microtransactions at all. Later in the interview, Piotr Nielubowicz said, “We do not exclude the fact that we will use this solution in the future in the case of multiplayer projects.”

This comment/clarification was probably made with Project Sirius, CD Projekt’s multiplayer witcher game, in mind.

Now, talking about Project Sirius, while the game did restart its whole development early last year and nothing much has been heard about it since, Piotr Nielubowicz confirmed that it is still being actively developed, will be treated as an AAA project and will still feature multiplayer components.
