Apex Legends Streamers Warned To Perform An OS Reinstall ASAP

The drama starts when Ryan “Genburten” Ozkose of DarkZero suddenly can see other players through walls mid-match. Then Phillip “ImperialHal” Dosen of TSM had an aimbot.

The first hack happened mid-way through the third official match. A Twitch clip shows the words Apex hacking global series by Destroyer2009 & R4ndom repeatedly repeating as Genburten realised he’s been hacked and immediately takes his hands off the controls before declaring that he can see everyone and leaving the match.

The second incident happened almost immediately after ImperialHal shouted, “I have aimbot right now!” and then tried to play out the round without shooting before the match was abandoned.

Since this incident, the Anti-Cheat Police Department has issued a PSA announcing:

There is currently an RCE exploit being abused in Apex Legends, and it could be delivered via the game itself or its anti-cheat protection. We would advise against playing any games protected by EAC or any EA titles.

As of now, the Anti-Cheat Police Department strongly recommends that players taking place in the tournament take protective measures.

It is advisable that you change your Discord passwords and ensure that your emails are secure. Also enable MFA for all your accounts if you have not done it yet.

Also, perform a clean OS reinstall as soon as possible. Do not take any chances with your personal information, your PC may have been exposed to a rootkit or other malicious software that could cause further damage.

The remainder of the series has officially been postponed, and according to an X and X, more information will be shared with players and competitors soon.
