Just when I thought I could make it through a week without covering the news that a company in the gaming space was buying over another company in the space, Turtle Beach said hold my beer.
One of the world’s most wildly known gaming accessory companies, Turtle Beach, has just announced that it’s planning on taking a more active role in the controller space by buying over PDP, a company best known for its affordable and fun-looking game controllers, for a sweet $118 million.
This purchase aligns with the direction that Turtle Beach has been heading in over the last couple of years. Once known only for its headsets, Turtle Beach has quickly expanded into everything from controllers to racing wheels.
Even so, Turtle Beach is still a newcomer to the gamepad world, around which PDP has built its entire company.

This takeover will allow Turtle Beach access to PDP’s fun, experimental controllers and arcade-style joysticks collection. However, things could have gone very differently.
As part of the acquisition announcement, Turtle Beach also revealed that before deciding to buy PDP, it was considering selling itself to another company, but clearly, that never materialised.
And while this news isn’t as huge as Microsoft’s never-ending battle for Activision, it does follow in the footsteps of companies like Logitech gobbling up Loupedeck and Corsair absorbing Drop.
