What a good day today is turning out to be. We’re getting a gift from the gaming gods, and it’s not even Friday. Sony has announced that the much-anticipated 9.00 update is finally out of beta and is being rolled out to PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide.
This update brings multiple features to your PlayStation, from the ability to adjust the brightness of the PlayStation 5’s power indicator (at long last) to improved DualSense mic noise cancellation, enhancements for the DualSense speaker audio and even lets users now interact with the Share Screen using pointers and emojis.
To break down some of this awesomeness for you, with the new enhancements, the DualSense controller speakers will now be able to produce higher volume sound, letting players hear in-game sounds and voice chat audio more clearly.
The mic noise cancellation has also been improved thanks to a new AI machine-learning model. This means that the background noise from button presses and game audio will be suppressed, making for a better voice chat experience for those using the DualSense controller.
As for the new features in Parties and Share Screen, players watching Share Screen can use pointers and emoji reactions to interact with the host’s gameplay.
Finally, the update also adds improved system software performance and stability to the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, the PlayStation VR2 headset, the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and the Access controller.
Are you excited to give this new update a whirl? We know we sure are. After we’ve finished work… right? Right. If you want to read the full patch notes, you can follow the link here.
