Vermintide 2’s Versus Mode Is Finally Here, As An Open Alpha

Breaking up the standard industry layoff news with something more positive is always great. This morning, it’s the news that Vermintide 2’s Versus mode, something first announced in 2019 and then never heard of again, has been confirmed to not only be in the world but, as of today, it’s an open alpha!

Following a recent closed alpha, the open alpha is available for anyone and everyone to join directly from the Vermintide 2 main menu. Design director Joakim Setterberg also released a short statement about some of the findings from the closed alpha, in which over 3,600 players participated.

We got a ton of good feedback, the servers were fairly stable, and we did not see any overly alarming crashes or issues preventing play. – Joakim Setterberg

As for the open alpha, the map that’s been made available is Righteous Stand, which will see players fight throughout several rounds. Up to four players can participate on each side, alternately playing as Heroes and Pactsworn specials in each round.

The open alpha will be running until the 18th of March.

But now we want to hear from you. Will you be jumping into the open alpha while it’s still available? Let us know in the comments.
