Finally, a Real RTS Available on Steam Thanks To EA

It’s happened. EA has given in to the demands of the gaming community. Somewhat.

As of earlier this morning, a collection of classic EA titles has been added to Steam, losing their Origin/EA App exclusivity.

  • Command and Conquer
  • Command and Conquer: The Covert Operations
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert: Counterstrike
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert: The Aftermath
  • Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
  • Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun Firestorm
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge
  • Command and Conquer: Renegade
  • Command and Conquer: Generals
  • Command and Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour
  • Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
  • Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars: Kane’s Wrath
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
  • Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3: Uprising
  • Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight
  • Dungeon Keeper Gold
  • Dungeon Keeper 2
  • Populous
  • Populous 2: Trials of the Olympic Gods
  • Populous: The Beginning
  • Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack
  • SimCity 3000 Unlimited
  • The Saboteur

Most notable of all, as you can see from the list above, is the complete collection of the Command and Conquer games, which are currently going for a steal at 50% off.

Featuring the original Command and Conquer, the best-ever Tiberian Sun and the first/third-person hybrid Renegade, the Command and Conquer: Ultimate Collection can be picked up for only R185.88

Other hits like Dungeon Keeper and SimCity 3000 have also made their way over to gamers’ favourite platform.

We know EA had to recently let go of around 670 staff members, which also led to the cancellation of a first-person Star Wars game that was in the works. This change of heart, bringing some of their classic titles to Steam, could be a way of trying to recoup funds and steer the company away from closing more studios in their roster.

Whatever their reason for adding the games to Steam is, this will allow a lot more people access to these widely popular classics that, let’s be honest, every gamer should play at least once.

What would be the first one you play from the list above? Let us know in the comments below.
