It’s almost everyone’s favourite little plumbers’ big day of the year. The 10th of March, or MAR10 Day as it’s known to us gamers, is a day for celebrating Mario and all things related.
This year, Nintendo has given us a whole list of goodies to enjoy on MAR10 Day and beyond.
Starting from the 5th of March, Mario fans can check out the Play Nintendo website, which currently hosts a thesaurus filled with all the Mario characters and their stories. You can take part in quizzes, answer some polls, and even download a printable copy of your favourite plumbers stash.
Haven’t watched the Super Mario Bros movie yet, or think you may have missed out on some of the easter eggs? Then download the free guide to The Super Mario Bros. Movie! The guide features all the little details that may just make watching the movie all that more special.
You can also grab yourself a free 14-day trial to Nintendo Switch Online, available until the 17th of March. The usual 7-day trial will allow you to access the online Nintendo platform, giving you the ability to play games online with your friends and access all the retro classics from back in the day. This trial is available to both new and old users of Nintendo Switch Online.
Of course, there are a load of Mario-themed missions to complete on the Nintendo Switch Online platform. Completing these challenges will grant users platinum coins that they can use to purchase new avatars and other fun items from the Nintendo Store.
If deals and steals are more up your alley, then you’re in luck, too. Starting from the 7th of March, running until the 17th, digital games will be on sale on the Nintendo eShop. As it’s MAR10 Day, we can only assume that most of these deals will be on games in the Mario universe, perhaps even the latest Super Mario Bros Wonder.
If you’re on the Johannesburg side, I’d also consider planning an adventure to the local My Nintendo Store in Sandton City. There are bound to be physical items on special, from plushies of Princess Peach and Bowser, and maybe even a discount on that beautifully red Mario-themed OLED.
As a last added bonus, an online Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament will be held on the 10th of March. It’s a bit of a late-night race for us down here in sunny South Africa, running from 10 PM to 4 AM the following day. The race details are as follows:
- Mode: 150cc Race
- Teams: No Teams
- Items: Normal Items
