In sad news for fans of Temtem that haven’t yet jumped ship to the Pokemon-esque phenomenon that is Palworld, Temtem developers Crema have just announced that following the game’s upcoming 1.7 updates, there will be no future content coming to the game, and all microtransactions will be removed.
For those who don’t already know, Temtem was a game that started as a Kickstarter campaign in 2018 and became somewhat viral for raising nearly $574,000 on a goal of just $70,000.
Temtem was described as a massive multiplayer creature-collecting adventure in the Kickstarter campaign. However, they clarified that it would be smaller than conventional MMOs, which did nothing to curb supporters’ expectations and left many of them feeling done by the game.
No matter what Temtem has done to the game since, they’ve never entirely managed to bring it up to the levels backers and newcomers expected. So when Crema announced a new game, Temtem: Swarm, many saw it as the writing on the wall for Temtem.

Crema CEO Enrique Paños Montoya also didn’t do much to try to save things when he left a message on the Temtem Discord putting fans on blast:
“If you really wanted Temtem to live on, what you would really ask for is for us to stop improving Temtem 1 and start working on something new. As of now, we are improving Temtem 1 just for you, even if it never seems enough.”
After this message, a rep for Crema came out with a statement promising players that Temtem would not be going anywhere and would continue to receive updates alongside the development of Temtem: Swarm, but that wasn’t exactly true.
In a lengthy statement posted to the Temtem Steam page today, that could put this news piece to shame, Crema stated that after the upcoming 1,7 patch arrives in early June, all real-money microtransactions will be removed, and the game will also stop receiving new seasons and passes.
if we ever reach that point, we'll make sure we find ways to make the game available for everyone, even if it means an offline mode. It's a promise we made that we intend to upheld. But let me assure you, the servers are safe and will remain!

However, even though there won’t be any further content updates, the Temtem developers have said there will still be small patches that will continue to polish, fix bugs, and balance levels as long as the game needs it.
As of writing, the reaction to the announcement has been mixed, with some players happy to see monetisation go, but almost all players upset that work on Temtem won’t continue, leading to the game sitting on a mostly negative review on Steam.
But now I want to hear from you. What are your thoughts on Temtem no longer receiving content? Let me know in the comments.
