The Upcoming Loot Rework For Diablo 4 Is Set To Massively Change The Game

In one of Blizzard’s signature Diablo 4 campfire chats, it was announced that the upcoming season would be going far beyond its initial scope. Because of this, players can try out all the new features via a playtest server before the next season goes live.

Since Diablo 4 first debuted, players have been asking for a public test realm, much like Blizzard previously offered with Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 Resurrected. Now, thanks to last month’s rocky reception to Diablo 4’s third season, which ended up releasing filled with progress-blocking bugs, Blizzard has finally conceded – with conditions.

In the future, there will be a Diablo 4 public test realm. However, only some seasons will be available there. It will depend on a case-by-case basis and how much new content and changes are planned for that season, and to kick things off, season 4 will be the first season in the public test realm.

As of writing, details on how season 4 is going beyond the scope and what exactly Blizzard has planned for it remain super vague, but we know there will be some fundamental changes to how the loot system works.

According to what Blizzard said in the latest campfire chat and previous ones, the overarching goal for season 4 will be to make items feel more valuable from the get-go.

They’ve also spoken about some substantial changes to Necromancer minions:

Minions are one of our big priorities to make feel really good. We’ll have a lot coming in season 4 in addition to the changes coming in next week’s mid-season patch. – lead live class designer Adam Jackson
