Sorry Diablo, There’s a New ARPG in Town

Imagine an ARPG with the same sort of action as Diablo 4 but with similar complex character building as in Path of Exile. Well, imagine no longer. After its half-decade-long stint in Early Access, Last Epoch has finally reached a 1.0 release with these exact traits.

Boasting 15 Mastery Classes and over 120 skill trees, Last Epoch plans to keep you returning for more and more. Add the giant loot pool with special build augments and a crafting system that allows you to build items your way, and every time you dive into the game with a new character, it will feel completely new.

The story features a time-bending aspect, where players will travel back and forth through time for the same world, changing the past to save the future, hopefully. While the roughly 20-hour primary campaign has not really been praised by the gamers that have already played through it, the end-game content, the in-game combat, the massive loot pool and exciting items and the game’s unique crafting system have proven to be quite fun. And who doesn’t love the sound of a fun game?

Of course, the game’s launch has been plagued by server issues and Early Access bugs that remain in the 1.0 launch, but overall, the “Mixed” reviews on Steam seem to sway towards the positive.

The game can be played in offline mode, meaning the server issues shouldn’t bug you unless you were hoping to play with your friends, and Eleventh Hour Games seem to be quite active in both their Discord and their subreddit discussing the fixes for all the bugs that have surfaced, or resurfaced, during the 1.0 launch.

Another major draw for Last Epoch is the price. While it’s not as low as the free-to-play Path of Exile, its R335 price tag makes it an easy pickup for those who love ARPG games but weren’t willing to pay the AAA price that came with Diablo 4.

Considering Last Epoch is currently sitting at number 3 on Steam’s Top Selling List and is sixth on the Most Played List, the developers at Eleventh Hour Games have obviously done something right.
