After just about a year in development, the team behind Riot Games’ fighting game has officially been named. Not only that, but there’s a planned release date in mind as well.
Now officially titled 2XKO, the 2v2 fighting game will feature champions from Riot Games’ widely popular League of Legends series.
We’ve seen a few videos of the game online over the last year. Showing off the different abilities and crazy tag team combos that we can expect from the game. This year, however, Riot plans to take the project out of the studio and hand it over to the community.
After receiving so much valuable feedback from their demos at EVO and other in-house playtests Riot is ready to start letting the community help polish and refine 2XKO before it releases in 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
This means they will be showing off new content and providing behind-the-scenes updates a lot more often on their social media pages, looking for that community feedback. You can search for @Play2XKO across all platforms to let Riot know your thoughts.

If you’d like to be a part of the playtests themselves, you can sign up for them here. Riot is hoping to have “at-home” playtests ready before the end of the year.
Even though I’m absolutely shocking at fighting games, you can ask JabHim and his team themselves; I’m still excited to see what comes from 2XKO for a couple of reasons.
One, I know the champions in the game already, so it’s just cool to see them use their abilities in a different, more flashy kind of way. And two, we already have Valorant servers locally, so there’s potential for some of Riots’ other games to get local servers, too, and I’m pretty sure throwing a punch at 200ms ping is slightly less impactful than at 17ms.
