Speed and challenge runners are like the elite athletes of our sport. Yes, gaming is a sport, Mom! Breaking speed records for different in-game tasks or making up the most ridiculous challenges they can only conquer, but so many will try.
Fracture, notorious for making up their own almost impossible, terribly intricate challenges in Baldurs Gate 3, has come up with another challenge to add to their books.
Defeat the game in Honour mode, with True Strike being their only offensive spell.
Why is this difficult? First, Honour mode is the game’s most challenging setting, implementing tougher boss battles, a single save file, and the always harsh permadeath rule. Second, True Strike as an offensive ability is kind of not that offensive. True Strike grants the player an advantage in their next turn, meaning two D20 di will be rolled, and the higher of the two values will be used.
In total, Fracture used True Strike 2,469 times to defeat the game.
It’s also worth noting that no other exploits or early-game finishes were used to get to the end. Just a collage of tactics, clever manoeuvres and a sharp tongue. Oh, and True Strike.
You can watch the full video of how Fracture got the deed done below. It’s 30 minutes of grindy ridiculousness, but it’s a lot of fun to see him take the game on from a whole other angle.
Fracture also has a few other videos, including a challenge where they beat the game without levelling up at all.
