New Sims-Like Game, Paralives, Releases Gameplay Overview

The Sims has been at the forefront of its genre for years, essentially being the only realistic life sim out there. That was up until recently, where we’ve seen not just one but many life sim games enter the field.

With Life By You planned for an Early Access Launch this June and InZOI set for a launch later in 2024, life sim fans have a mouthwatering year to look forward to. Add to that the news that Project Rene, or The Sims 5, is also in the works, and it’s almost as if life-sims are becoming the trendiest genre.

If that’s not enough, Paralives has just released a new gameplay overview trailer showing off a few of the in-game features and announcing a release date for Early Access.

The trailer gives a small glimpse at the personality creation of your character. The system allows one to place a few points in different aspects, choose a vibe, a social perk, or a talent, and adjust their lifestyle. In the video, Anise, the Para we’re following, has a serious vibe, is good with others and has a talent for music. She’s also created as a vegetarian.

We also get taken around town, where Anise picks up a job, and the developer shows us how upgrade points can affect one’s career. If you do well during the day, you receive an upgrade point, which can be used towards things like your job rank, workplace skills, or even upgrading personal skills at work.

Of course, life is not all work and no play. The overview also gives us a demonstration of how both relationships are formed. Players can now choose how these relationships develop and grow with other Para’s using a system called Togetherness. Find out what makes other Paras tick and use this information to form friends or perhaps even partners.

The game gives off quite the cosy vibe itself, and although the Early Access is only planned for release in 2025, it’s looking quite promising already. The developer has a public roadmap showing all the already developed features and those scheduled to be implemented before next year’s release.

I can guarantee this is already on Arielle’s wishlist, but if you’d like to add it to yours, head over to the Steam page here, and click that button.
