Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League – How To Change Characters And Which Character Should You Play

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League sees players thrust into an open-world version of Brainiac’s Metropolis as a squad of four members of Arkham’s finest, or baddest, anti-heroes.

Currently, players can choose between Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark, each with their own playstyles, skills, builds, and complementary weapons and abilities.

Players can also swap between the members of their squad at any point in the game, making for a rather dynamic game where you never have to be tied into only one playstyle.

However, figuring out exactly how to swap between characters in both solo and online mode, as well as deciding which characters will speak to you personally, can be a challenge – one we aim to make as simple as possible with this guide. Now go; that pesky little Justice League isn’t going to kill itself.

How To Swap Between Characters During Offline Play

After you finish the tutorial missions in Chapter 1: Arkham’s Least Wanted, players will have free reign to swap between the four squad members.

This process couldn’t be easier with players simply hitting the Left D-Pad Button at any time outside of combat.

Hitting that Left D-Pad Button will open a Squad wheel, where players can keep with the theme and hit other D-Pad buttons to swap between party members.

Each character has a logo that corresponds with them, and they go as follows:

  • Boomerang – Captain Boomerang
  • Shark Fin – King Shark
  • Four Diamonds – Harley Quinn
  • Target Symbol – Deadshot

Once players have selected their character, they will instantly swap to that character where they last were. The characters players aren’t controlling will then become bots that follow the player around.

How To Swap Between Characters During Online Play

While you can still swap out your character during online play, the process is slightly different from when you’re playing solo.

Firstly, payers will need to ensure that whichever character they want to swap with us is part of their squad menu before they click play, matchmake, or join a friend.

When you assemble your squad, the character you want to play will be on the left, and then the other character will be in order of importance to your squad.

That means that whichever character is on the left will be the one you play as, and then if there are player slots free, the next character will be your bot ally that you can switch to at any time.

Players can also change their squad’s order just as soon as Rick Flag joins the Hall of Justice. After that, run up to him and interact to be taken to the Squad Menu and be able to swap out characters.

Which Character Should You Play

In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, players will assemble a team of four ex-Arkham inmates to take on the Justice League.

As you can imagine, each character comes with unique perks, skills, and traversal methods, so there should be a character for everyone – regardless of how you prefer to play.

It’s worth noting that while each member of the ill-fated squad is different, specific core mechanics are the same across all of them.

No matter who you choose to play, each character can:

  • Equip a melee weapon, a grenade, and swap between up to three types of guns
  • Each character has their own means of traversal
  • Each character has three Talent Trees

Now that we have that out of the way let’s take a look at the ways the squad is different from each other:

The name’s Quinn, Harley Quinn

Playstyle: Detonator; Run-n-Gunner; Slugger

Weapons: Pistols; SMGs; Heavy Weapons; Bludgeon

Traversal: Grapple Gun; Bat Drone

Harleen Quinzel, a former criminal psychologist at Arkham Asylum, now known as the criminal Harley Quinn, brings her trademark insanity and a baseball bat to the battlefield.

Harley Quinn is the squad member most apt for running and gunning, all while looking like a badass. Her playstyle is best suited to weapons with a high fire rate, allowing Harley Quinn to sneak behind her foes before spraying them all down with her signature one-liners and deadly bullets.

Thanks to some repurposed Batman tech, Harley Quinn uses a grappling gun and some drones to traverse Metropolis in style. Of all the characters in the crew, Harley has the most tricky transversal to master. Still, when you have it down, she is a force to be reckoned with and can evade enemy shields and gunfire like they aren’t even there.

Harley Quinn is best suited to close combat, not just because her bat is a vampire bat, always looking for blood, but because her weapons of choice shine in close-range fighting.

One shot, two shot, three shot, Deadshot

Playstyle: Bomber; Sharpshooter; Tactician

Weapons: Sniper Rifles; Assault Rifles; Pistols; Wrist Cannons

Traversal: Jetpack

Floyd Lawton, most commonly known as Deadshot, is undoubtedly the marksman and assassin of the group. He’s also known for never missing a shot, but that wasn’t when I was at the helm.

Deadshot uses wrist-mounted firearms and a jetpack to gain an advantage in battle. If you’ve always wanted to fly around while dealing devastating damage to those below, then this is the champion for you.

Thanks to Deadshot’s rocket-based abilities, players can do huge levels of damage while ensuring he’s never caught in the crosswind.

While Deadshot isn’t a champion who does well with dealing large amounts of sustained damage, he shines when it comes to picking stragglers off and racking up those smaller kills in no time at all.

And when you combine his mastery of sniper rifles with the flashiness of his jetpack, you can get the height advantage to be more aiming down the scope to ensure you get those headshots every single time.

Is it Karma or just Captain Boomerang?

Playstyle: Charger; Hit-n-Runner; Ranger

Weapons: Sniper Rifles; Shotguns; SMGs; Boomerangs

Traversal: Speed Force Gauntlet

George Harkness, or Captain Boomerang, isn’t just armed with his sharp tongue and killer wit; he also has a knack for tossing boomerangs to lethal effect.

Out of all the members of the suicide squad, Captain Boomerang is one of the more tricky ones to excel with, but that challenge only adds to his fun.

Captain Boomerang is the speedster of the group and can dart around the battlefield, dealing damage as he goes. He is best played by taking advantage of weapons that complement his fast-paced gameplay style, like shotguns and sniper rifles that let you do huge levels of damage before darting out of the danger zone to recover.

Using his Speedforce Gauntlet allows players to throw his trusty boomerang and then teleport to wherever it has flown in an instant, which can also be used in combat to dart back and forth between foes to do some serious damage before they even know where to look.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s King Shark!

Playstyle: Artillery; Predator; Survivor

Weapons: Heavy Weapons; Assault Rifles; Shotguns; Blades

Traversal: Vertical Jumps; Horizontal Jumps

Nanaue, or King Shark, is perhaps the coolest of all the Suicide Squad. Firstly, he is a demigod and a giant shark walking among the other modern morals on land.

King Shark boasts superhuman strength and about a million super sharp teeth. He is an excellent pick for those who want to stroll into battle with the biggest weapons they can find to be a one-person or one-shark army.

Because he prefers shotguns, assault rifles and other heavy weapons, King Shark is a force to be reckoned with. However, where he shines is up close and personal, using his devastating melee attacks and teeth to send the enemies into an early grave.

Different from the other members of the squad, King Shark doesn’t have any cool tech to help him traverse Metropolis. Instead, he channels his demigod powers to leap across the battlefield and descend upon his enemies like a giant shark-man-cannon ball.

King Shark also boasts the most health of everyone in the crew, making him perfect for soaking up damage before brandishing his teeth.
