Just as the last day of Janu-worry rolls on over, and we all fist-pump the air in celebration of making it through those 239 days of January, PlayStation launches a sale to help you empty your wallet.
Again.
The “Critics Choice” sale kicks off at 10 AM on the 31st of January and will run all the way up to the 15th of February, giving you just enough time to find a game you think your crush will enjoy playing with you on Valentine’s Day.
The sale will feature 419 (almost meme’d us) games across various genres.
Amongst the extensive list of games will be Cyberpunk 2077, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Need for Speed Unbound, as well as a few others that we at NAG have criticised a little bit ourselves.
Payday 3:
Despite its limited launch content, Payday 3 is a solid and exciting step forward for one of the best heist simulator franchises. It has everything that makes the franchise special, from music that gets your heart pumping to adrenaline-filled killing sprees to silent and precise heists – it’s all there, but with a level of polish and finesse, I never realized the franchise was missing until now.
Score: 95
Wild Hearts:
Wild Hearts may have inspired me to give the monster hunting genre a second chance, but it’s performance on PC is a major thorn in it’s side that could scare off a few people who are on the fence about getting it. Perhaps look at picking it up on console, or give it some time to grow in to a full-fledged wolf, that I hope it will become.
Score: 70
Mortal Kombat 1:
Mortal Kombat 1 is still a gore fest of blood, broken bones and epic fatalities, but the team at NetherRealm have also put together a fresh story that kept me interested at every step. As someone who has followed most of the kharacters as I’ve grown up, it was great to have this freshness thrown into a thirty-year-old franchise. It’s an epic adventure that has re-ignited the little kid in me to want to “git-gud” at fighting games again.
Score: 85
