Back when a trailer for a seemingly new Five Nights at Freddy’s game called Into the Pit first leaked onto the interwebs, the Five Nights subreddit immediately clamped down, issuing a warning to fans that all discussions of said trailer would be removed until the trailer is officially released.
But now, Five Nights creator Scott Cawthon has joined the chat to say it’s all good and that fans can freely talk about it and get excited without holding back or feeling bad.
The game is made by Mega Cat Studios, the developers behind Wrestlequest; Into the Pit is an entirely fresh take on the series, from the distinctly retro art style down to the fact that it’s a side-scroller.
However, even with these changes, there is no denying that it is still very clearly a Five Nights at Freddy’s game and comes with the franchise’s core elements: stealth, evasion, and, of course, jump scares.
Since Scott says discussions on the project's leaked trailer don't need to be kept hush-hush anymore… let's talk about it!

Into the Pit is based on Into the Pit, as you can imagine, which is a collection of three short stories that makes up the first volume of the Fazbear Frights series of books.
“No need to keep it all hush-hush. It’s okay! Yes, I was trying to keep it a secret for a bit longer, but now that it’s out, that’s fine.
This game has been in development for a really long time actually, and I’m really proud of the final product. It will be a 10th-anniversary game!”
As of writing, there aren’t any other details about the game yet, although if we take Scott Cawthon by his statement of it being a 10th-anniversary game, then it seems likely that the game will be released sometime in August to correlate with the original release date of 8 August 2014.
