According to a post on X from the official Call of Duty Updates account, Call of Duty has a cool new shortcut for mouse and keyboard users trying to activate aim assist: Alt + F4.
This comes after the game has been buffing up its built-in security features to help catch cheaters, in this case, a kill switch that will kill your MW3.exe itself if it catches you using a tool to turn on the game’s assist while using a mouse.
“Our security detection systems now target players using tools to activate aim assist while using a mouse and keyboard.
The Call of Duty application will instantly close if detected.
Repeated use of these tools may lead to further account action.”
Over the years, and more recently, aim assist has been a significant point of contention for multiplayer shooters. When these types of games first became popular, there was no denying the advantage that mouse players had over those foolish enough to use a controller.

However, this is no longer the case thanks to the rise of controller-based aim-assist features. So the struggle has become how to level the playing ground without turning a controller into an aim-assisted god or losing a considerable portion of your player base that enjoys playing from their couch.
Over the last while, players have been taking their grievances with aim assist to a new level by combining the natural power of a mouse with the godlike buffs of controller aim assist thanks to reWASD software hacks that trick the game into seeing your mouse as a controller.
But those days are over, at least for COD players. This anti-reWASD update comes after fellow multiplayer FPS, The Finals, announced last week that they had also taken action against the tool.
But now I want to know what you think about these anti-cheat updates. Will it help balance the playing ground again, or will controller players still reign supreme?
