OG-Looking Xbox Controller Is Making A Comeback, Baby

In the fashion world, it’s a known rule that everything that once was popular will eventually come back around, just given enough time. Well, the same rule applies to gaming and gaming hardware.

If you’re here, reading this, you should be able to remember the Xbox Controller S, the OG one that still jumps to mind when someone asks you to think of an Xbox controller.

Thanks to a reveal at CES 2024 and Hyperkin, a new version with the same look is returning to the gaming world.

Named The DuchesS, this wired Xbox controller not only aesthetically looks old school but also takes a leaf out of Nokia’s book and aims to last forever, or as close to that as possible, thanks to its anti-stick drift technology.

The DuchesS features newer tech inside, like a .5mm audio jack, a central share button, and a detachable USB-C cable alongside Hall Effect joysticks and triggers.

As of writing this piece, Hyperkin has yet to announce a price or release date, which will be a huge deciding factor in how popular these controllers become.

This also isn’t the first Xbox controller homage by Hyperkin. Over the last few years, Hyperkin has already brought to market its version of the Xbox Series X controller that combines the iconic Xbox 360 controller with the original Duke pad.

But now I want to hear from you, are you sold by the promise of longevity as well as the look of the DuchesS? Let me know in the comments.
