The year is barely two weeks old and the developers behind Cyberpunk 2077 have already moved on from the game to focus on its upcoming sequel. In an X on X, Igor Sarzyński, the narrative director behind Cyberpunk 2077, said that the team was officially kickstarting Orion. For those who don’t know, Orion is the codename for the sequel.
It’s funny because even just a few years ago, the idea that Cyberpunk 2077 would get a sequel sounded ridiculous. However, thanks to the highly successful Phantom Liberty expansion and 2.0 update, people are excited about another Cyberpunk game and what that could look like.
In the same X, Igor Sarzyński also declared that 2077 was just a warm-up.
First day in the Boston office! So good to meet old friends and officially kickstart our Orion journey. I couldn't be more excited for this project and i'm sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up 🔥

Nothing else is known about the upcoming sequel, but that will undoubtedly change over time. I hope that if Cyberpunk 2077 taught the team anything, it’s to wait until the game is finished before releasing it.
