Just one week after a job listing looking for a lead software engineer on Monolith’s Wonder Woman went live, looking for someone with knowledge of 3D math commonly used in game development as well as prior experience working in a 3D game engine and background helping maintain a live software product or game, Warner Bros. has some info on the game to share.
Since the listing went live, many have just unhappily accepted that Wonder Woman would more than likely be a live-service game, complete with battle pass, seasonal updates, and all the other… downfalls that come with it.
Also, this wouldn’t be a stretch as Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has previously spoken about how the company wants to transform franchises like Superman into live-service games. However, when it comes to Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. says this isn’t the case. Pinkie promise.
Warner Bros. has now released a statement to IGN which reads:
“Wonder Woman is a single-player action-adventure game set in a dynamic open-world. This third person experience will allow players to become Diana of Themyscira and introduce an original story set in the DC Universe, while also featuring the Nemesis System.
Wonder Woman is not being designed as a live service.”
While we aren’t sure we’re entirely buying this, and, likely, the game will inevitably become live-service, it is interesting to see how aware Warner Bros. is of gamers’ dislike for the system.
