A Highland Song Is A Narrative Survival Game Coming In December

A Highland Song is a new game from Inkle, the studio behind beloved titles like 80 Days and Heaven’s Vault. The game was first announced last year, marketed as a side-scrolling platformer complimented by rhythm and survival elements.

However, little else has been revealed about the game since the announcement. The release date was only listed as Coming Soon, until now.

Last night, Inkle confirmed that A Highland Song is finally ready to be shown to the world and will be released on Steam on the 5th of December.

A Highland Song is a delightfully exciting game that seems unlike anything we’ve seen before. The game follows the adventures of Moira, a teenager who is off to visit her uncle in a lighthouse off the rugged Scottish coast.

But as previously mentioned, it’s also a survival platformer with rhythm game elements, which should set the game aside from anything Inkle has worked on.

“Stretching between Moira and her destination are the Scottish Highlands: hundreds of miles of rocky terrain to navigate, steep peaks to climb, hidden paths to uncover, and harsh weather to survive,” Inkle said. “The Highlands are rich with stories, secrets, and song—but these hills are also dangerous. Can you make it to the lighthouse in time?

A Highland Song is part survival adventure, part platformer, and part rhythm game with a surprising, sprawling story that weaves into every decision you make. Each peak can be explored if you find the right shortcut, and all paths lead to the sea… eventually. If you don’t get there in time, you’ll be rewarded for trying again.”

We’re excited to see how it all comes together. Will you be checking out the game when it releases in December? Let us know in the comments.
