While mods for The Witcher 3 are nothing new, CD Projekt Red have announced an official mod editor for the game, being developed by CDPR themselves.
The new mod editor will allow players to add completely new content or edit the content that is already in the game. From quests to characters, it’s all up for modding.
Currently, modding your copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt requires a few prayers and two or three extra pieces of software just to make sure the backend code remains stable instead of being some sort of tangled spaghetti mess. This mod editor will hopefully allow filthy casuals like me to create the Witcher of my dreams. Although, to be fair, the Henry Cavil face mod already exists, so…

The editor is planned for a 2024 release and will be free to download. Some speculate that since this will be the last Witcher game that runs on CDPR’s own RED engine, they are making the mod editing software to leave the game’s future in the hands of the community. Considering the game is still going strong after seven years, they are probably the best hands to leave the game in.
