For fans of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series, whenever the words “live-action” are mentioned, we start shivering with fear and disgust, thinking back to the terrible movie that was made back in 2010.
So when Netflix announced they were remaking the animated series as a live-action series back in 2022, it was met with cautious excitement.
Just hours ago, the first trailer for the Netflix series was released, and my cautiousness has slowly started to wear off, becoming more of a giddiness.
The trailer gives us some closer looks at most of the characters from the original series, and it’s looking pretty darn good. Taking into consideration how well Netflix’s most recent anime adaption, One Piece, went, I literally can’t wait for this live-action series to be released. Unfortunately, the release date is slated for the 22nd of February, meaning I’m going to have to settle for the original animated series. Oh no, woe is me, being forced to watch one of the most incredible animated series ever.
For those who are still scarred by the previous live-action attempt, all is not lost. The team behind the animated series are working on a trio of animated movies following the lives of the gaang. The first is planned to air in October 2025 and will be based in a time where most of the characters are in their late 20’s.
